Hey everyone! I've been a Windows user my whole life, but after trying Ubuntu on an old laptop, I fell in love with Linux. Now I want to switch over to my main PC and need some suggestions for a distro. I've only tried the latest version of Ubuntu, but it felt slow for my taste. I have a powerful setup with a Ryzen 7 7700X, 32GB DDR5 RAM, a 7800XT graphics card, and an NVMe SSD, yet Ubuntu's speed didn't meet my expectations.
I'm looking for a distro that can:
- Run older Windows games, specifically Halo CE.
- Handle two monitors, including a CRT. I've heard some distros struggle with dual monitor setups.
- Support Steam for gaming.
- Be compatible with my Quest Rift S VR headset.
- Be fast and responsive.
Also, I occasionally need to help out my siblings and do some schoolwork, so ease of use would be a plus but not absolutely necessary. I've considered Mint, but I'm open to any other options that might work better. Let me know what you think!

Have you thought about MX Linux? It's pretty customizable and has good support for older hardware, plus the dual monitor setup should work fine. Just keep in mind you'll need to tweak some settings to get it looking exactly how you want it, but it’s definitely worth the effort!
That sounds intriguing! I like the idea of customizing it to my liking.
