I'm currently using Linux Mint and I'm considering switching to Debian 13 (Trixie) as my daily driver. I'm looking for a more vanilla experience and I'm interested in using Wayland, as I find Cinnamon isn't developed enough for it. I believe Debian 13 offers a good balance of up-to-date software and a familiar package manager (APT). Any advice on what to do after I install it or any configurations I should consider?

What desktop environment are you thinking about using? It's usually advised not to set a root password during installation since it can simplify configuring sudo for you. It’s a smoother experience overall!

I'm leaning towards KDE, but I’m not totally sure yet.
