Looking for VR Setup and PC Upgrade Suggestions

I'm interested in trying out VR gaming mainly to enhance my experience in iRacing and DCS, along with exploring other games. However, I know my PC needs some serious upgrades to support this. I'd love to hear your recommendations on a good VR headset and what parts I should upgrade to make my PC VR-ready. I'm not very picky about graphics settings; I'm fine with lower quality and occasional hiccups. Right now, I'm using three standard 60Hz monitors, but I mostly run games in the center and utilize triples for iRacing and DCS. I'm considering an upgrade budget of around $1000 for both the VR setup and PC improvements, with a max of $1500 if I can get everything together. I'm looking for the best value rather than the top-tier components. My current build can be found [here](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pz9PTM). My current GPU is a 6600, and I have a separate NVIDIA GPU that I can't use yet. Any advice would be great!

Your current setup is already pretty decent for getting into VR! You just need to pick a headset. If you’re looking to spend around $1500, it might make sense to consider a full rebuild, but the GPU and CPU are key, so maybe focus on those first. What headset were you considering?

Any suggestions for headsets? I'm also wondering if a full rebuild is really justified for that budget.

Totally! If the MOBO and CPU are several years old, it's worth thinking about replacing those as well, especially for better performance.

For a solid upgrade, I’d suggest going for a 5700X3D CPU and pairing it with a decent cooler. You'll definitely need a new GPU too; the RX 6800XT or the RX 6700 are both nice options that are easy to find for a fair price. Check out this [build](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/DKjxqH) for reference!

Thanks for the tips! I was thinking the same—CPU first, then GPU. Do you think I also need to upgrade the motherboard? I heard some good deals come with CPU/MOBO combos, so I might look for a 5700X3D with one.

Good point! If you’re looking at a new CPU, the motherboard could definitely need an upgrade, especially if it's 4 or 5 years old. Just make sure to check compatibility!

Fellow DCS player here! Here’s what I’d recommend. Since DCS can be really RAM-intensive, especially on some maps, ensure you have enough RAM; I’d recommend at least 32GB. You can check this [build](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/c9hpkf) for an optimized setup. If you’re not playing heavily crowded servers, you could downgrade to 32GB RAM and focus on a better GPU like the RX 9070.
