Looking to Switch My Old Laptop to Linux – Need Help!

I'm trying to switch my old touchscreen HP laptop from Windows to Linux. It's from 2011, has 4GB of RAM, and was originally on Windows 8 but has been updated to Windows 10. Now it's really slowing down and I'm overwhelmed with the options for Linux distributions that support touchscreens. Can someone recommend a lightweight Linux version that's beginner-friendly? I've googled a lot, but I just get confused. Any guidance would be much appreciated!

Check out the migration page in the Linux4Noobs wiki for detailed steps. There's a lot of useful info there, including migration tips. Just remember to verify the checksums of your downloaded ISOs for safety!

There are plenty of posts about which Linux distribution is best for systems like yours. I'd recommend trying out Linux Mint; it tends to work well, though I can't guarantee touchscreen support.
