I'm currently with GoDaddy, and they quoted me around $900 for the next 5 years of web hosting, which feels way too high. I'm considering switching to a more affordable provider. My websites are pretty simple, without any PHP running, but I do have SSL on two of them. If anyone has suggestions for better hosting options, I'd love to hear them. Thanks in advance!

$900 for five years is steep! I pay about that much for my whole server and multiple domains. If your sites are simple without PHP, you might be fine with Netlify or GitHub Pro.
Consider Speedypage. Their pricing is fixed, so you won’t get any surprise fees when it’s time for renewal. They also offer cPanel and pretty decent customer service.
I switched to Linode recently, and it's been cheap and easy to work with. Though I mainly used it for hosting a Java game server, I've heard it's solid for web hosting too. Just keep in mind it's now owned by Akamai, but it hasn’t affected my experience so far.
After GoDaddy acquired my old host, I moved to HawkHost, and it's been great! It's cheaper and handles multiple sites well. For what you’re looking for, consider checking out options like Digital Ocean or NearlyFreeSpeech.net.
Honestly, just get away from GoDaddy. Anywhere else is a better choice!
I think Cloudflare is alright if you're looking for something near wholesale hosting. It's not for everyone, and I don’t know much, but it’s worth checking out!
Why are you downplaying yourself like that? You're sharing good advice!
I've been using Linode too, and honestly, I haven't noticed any changes since the acquisition.
