Looking to Upgrade an Old Dell XPS 8300 – Any Tips?

I just received an old Dell XPS 8300 from my grandmother, who hasn't used it since 2015 when my grandfather passed away. This computer is running Windows 7, and I'm really interested in taking it on as a personal project during my free time. I'd like to know what upgrades are possible and what components I should focus on, if any. Any advice would be appreciated!

It's great that you're considering upgrading it! The XPS 8300 is quite dated, so you’ll likely need to replacemost components like the CPU, RAM, and maybe even the motherboard, depending on how far you want to go. If you're sentimental about it, keeping the case might be worth it, but if you're mainly looking to save money, you might want to think about just getting a new PC because the upgrades could add up.

Thanks for the insight! I was leaning towards keeping the case because it has a personal touch. But I definitely don’t want to spend more than getting a new one. Any recommendations on what specific parts I should look for?
