Looking to Upgrade My CPU for Better Performance

I'm considering upgrading my CPU because I feel like it could use a bit more power! Currently, I have a 13th Gen Intel Core i5-13400F paired with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, and I'm not sure what would be the best upgrade options available. Any guidance would be appreciated!

Going with the 13600K or 14600K would be smart, depending on sales. Your motherboard seems solid for these upgrades. If you're willing to spend a bit more, the 13900K is great but make sure you've got a good cooler for it.

It really depends on your motherboard. If it's decent, you could jump to the 13600K or 14600K, which would be a nice upgrade from the 13400. If you've got the budget and your cooling can handle it, the 14700K or 14900K could be worthwhile too. Newer chips are engineered better and tend to run cooler, making them great for gaming.

I have an MSI PRO B760-P WIFI DDR4; should that work for those upgrades?

If you're looking for a step up, I'd recommend considering the i5-13600K or the i7-13700F. The i5-13600K has more cores and higher clock speeds, which is great for both gaming and multitasking, while the i7-13700F is excellent for streaming and heavier workloads. Just keep in mind that with your 4060 Ti, you might not see a massive frame rate boost in games already limited by GPU performance. Make sure your motherboard can handle it and check if you'll need upgraded cooling for the 'K' series.

For a more budget-friendly performance, I'd say the i5-14600K is better than the i7-14700K for gaming. Check out comparisons online!

Before you pull the trigger on an upgrade, ask yourself why you want to upgrade your CPU. The 13400F might not be bottlenecking your RTX 4060 Ti at all, especially if you mainly game at higher resolutions like 1440p. My old 11400 only slightly limited my 4070 performance!
