I was able to log into my iPad yesterday, but today I completely blanked on my passcode. I've tried entering it a few times and ended up locking myself out for 3 hours. Now that the time limit is up, I'm worried about being locked out for an entire day. Is there any chance to reset my passcode without erasing all my data? I haven't backed up my iPad to iCloud in a long time, and I really want to avoid losing my important docs and sentimental photos. By the way, it's an iPad Pro 2022.

Did you change your passcode within the last few days? There's a support page from Apple that might help if you did. But if you haven't recently changed it, it seems your best bet is to prepare for data loss.
It's such a pain when this happens! But hey, learning to do regular backups is always a good lesson to take forward. You’re not alone; it happens to many people!
I managed to get into my iPad after all! The first thing I did was subscribe to iCloud for backups. Thanks for the advice, it really pushed me to take action!
Unfortunately, if you can't remember the passcode, the only option is to erase your device. I know it's frustrating, but think of it this way: since you're currently locked out, you've already lost access to those files. It might be a good idea to set up automatic backups next time to prevent this from happening again.
