Looking to Upgrade My PC: Need Advice on CPU and GPU

I'm currently using a GTX 1070 and an i7-7700K, and I'm considering an upgrade. I'm thinking about switching to AMD, but I'm not familiar with their processors since I've only used Intel before. I have a budget of around $450 for both a new CPU and GPU. Since my current motherboard doesn't support newer CPUs, I'll need to get a new one as well. What should I look for in terms of parts?

For performance, you might want to explore AMD's X3D CPUs from the 7000 and 9000 series. The 9800X3D is a top pick, but if you're trying to save, the 7800X3D or 7600X3D still offer great value. Microcenter often has good deals on CPU and motherboard bundles, or you could consider Ryzen 5 non-X3D options with a budget board. Just a heads up, it's challenging to get both a good CPU and GPU within $450, so saving up a bit more might be wise.

With a $450 budget for both a CPU and a GPU, you're in a tight spot. I'd suggest prioritizing the GPU. Consider the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB or the RX 9060 XT 16GB if they fit your budget. Your current CPU won't bottleneck these too much. Also, remember that you’ll need a new motherboard, which eats into your budget. That GPU should last you at least 5 years, giving you time to upgrade the rest later.
