Hello everyone! I'm currently hosting Zoom classes for adults with disabilities on my MacBook Pro (Apple M3 Chip, 8GB RAM). I usually have around 10 participants per session and share a lot of videos from YouTube—like singing and dancing clips—as well as games and remote control access. My current internet speed with Xfinity is 150 Mbps, and I rarely experience any lag or issues when sharing content.
However, I'm about to move to an affordable studio by the lake, which is a bit removed from the city. The landlord mentioned they provide Astound Broadband, and while he's had success with video conferencing, I've come across some reviews indicating potential issues with multiple participants, video sharing, and overall reliability. Since internet stability is my main concern, I'm wondering what backup plans I can implement to ensure that I can continue my remote classes without a hitch. I'd love to hear any creative solutions or advice you might have, especially for maintaining remote work in a beautiful new location!

You know how it goes—people tend to leave reviews only when things go wrong. Most ISPs have mixed feedback, depending on various factors like your specific plan or even the local conditions. Give it some time once you move in; you might find the service isn't as bad as you expect. If it is, you could always look into upgrading your plan or switching providers if possible. For something more mobile, you might consider a fixed wireless setup with 5G, which can be a good backup option to have.
It's a good idea to explore any 5G options your phone carrier offers. You might find that using your mobile hotspot for your classes works just fine!
Totally! I have 5G with T-Mobile as well, and I can run Zoom pretty smoothly from my hotspot. Definitely worth testing before committing!

That makes a lot of sense! After hearing about 5G, I contacted T-Mobile and they offer a device that plugs in anywhere, giving me options for 150-400 Mbps without being tied to the landlord's account. There’s a trial period too, which gives me peace of mind!
