Moving to Linux: Can I Migrate My Old MacBook and Which Distro Should I Choose?

I'm planning to transition to Linux when my relatively new laptop eventually fails, but in the meantime, I have an old MacBook I want to experiment with. First, is it possible to fully migrate my MacBook to Linux? Secondly, could you recommend a beginner-friendly or medium-level lightweight Linux distribution? I appreciate any insights!

You should definitely check out r/linux_on_mac for tips specific to your MacBook model. There may be users who have documented their experiences there. When it comes to choosing a distro, pick a desktop environment you’re comfortable with, then go for a distro like Mint, Debian, or Fedora that uses that DE by default. You can even test drive different environments online at distrosea.com!
