I was upgrading my graphics card from a 4070 Ti to a 5080, but ran into some issues. My original power supply didn't have enough PCI-e cables, so I bought a 12VHPWR cable only to find it wouldn't fit because my PSU is semi-modular. I then purchased a new MSI MAG A850GL power supply and reconnected everything. I think I've plugged in all the necessary cables (the CPU power, 24-pin, and GPU), and since I'm only using a single SSD for storage, that should be fine. However, my computer refuses to turn on at all. I've checked that the power supply is switched on, reseated the GPU, tried booting with just integrated graphics, and ensured all cables are secure. I can't figure out what else to check besides possibly reseating the CPU. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Did you happen to use any cables from your old power supply with the new one? That could cause some compatibility issues if they aren't meant for the new PSU.
If you swap back to the original PSU and GPU, does your system power up? That’s a good way to see if something has failed during the upgrade. Also, check if you need to update your BIOS to support the new GPU.
Just checking—when you hit the power button, are there any lights showing at all? Sometimes it's just a matter of ensuring everything is connected properly. Make sure the power switch on the back of the PSU is switched on, and double-check the connections for the 24-pin and CPU power.
Make sure your surge protector is actually on and plugged in. Also, check if the wall outlet is providing power. You’d be surprised how often that can be the culprit!
