So, my CPU, the Ryzen 5800X, has finally kicked the bucket, and I'm at a crossroads. I currently have an ASUS ROG Strix X570-E, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 3080Ti. I'm trying to decide whether I should just stick with the AM4 platform and grab another CPU like a 5600X or go all in on AM5 with something like the 9800X3D. I'm worried about investing in a platform that's on its way out, but maybe it's smarter to play it safe for now. I mainly play games like Gloomhaven and Red Dead 2 at 1440p and 165Hz. Any thoughts on what I should do?

Honestly, you don’t need to go straight for the 9800X3D. If you have access to Microcenter, check out some bundles or even consider used CPUs. A 5600 would work just fine for your games and can usually be found cheaply. Don’t overthink it!

That’s a great suggestion! I’ve got a Microcenter near me too, might be worth a look. I usually buy higher-end components for longevity but I guess a moderate upgrade could also work fine.
