My CPU is Shutting Down from Overheating—What Should I Do?

I've got a prebuilt Skytech Gaming PC featuring a Ryzen 7 5800X, 16GB of RAM, an RTX 3080, and a 1TB Gen4 SSD, and it's almost three years old now. It's been gathering a lot of dust since it sits on the floor and I've got a cat that sheds a lot. A few weeks back, while watching a YouTube video, my PC overheated and shut down. Just today, while I had Firefox and Hytale open (but wasn't actively using the PC), it shut off again, and when I tried to turn it back on, it wouldn't stay on. After doing a deep clean, the PC powers up, but the fans are loud and it shuts down again after about a minute. In the BIOS, I noticed my CPU was at 110°F while it was idling before it turned off. Everything seems to have good airflow. A friend mentioned that the cooler might be failing, and I've ordered new thermal paste that's arriving tomorrow. I really need help with troubleshooting this issue.

It sounds like your AIO cooler might be failing. When you turn the PC on, check the tubes; if you can feel water moving in them, it's likely still functioning. If not, you probably need to replace the AIO soon before it starts leaking. A quick trip to your local tech store might help you grab a new cooler just in case!

I felt a slight rumble in the tubes, but the temps were still shooting up like crazy. I think I’ll go to Micro Center today to pick up a new fan cooler and swap it out.
