Hey everyone, I'm really not tech-savvy, but I need some help. After a power outage that lasted a few hours, my father's PC started showing a message that says, "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key." It's an older model, and we've tried restarting it multiple times, but nothing seems to work. I came across some advice online about unplugging the PC and holding the power button to discharge it, but that didn't help either. I even checked the BIOS settings and noticed that none of the SATA ports seem to be recognized. Can anyone suggest what I can do next?

It sounds like your father's PC might be having trouble recognizing the drives, especially if they're SATA. If they're not showing up in the BIOS, they might be damaged from the power outage. I’d recommend checking the connections to the drives first, just to be sure they're secure. If they still don't work, you might need to look into replacing them.
Yeah, if the drives aren't detected at all, it could be a sign that they’re gone. You could try using another SATA cable or a different port if possible. Sometimes, these issues can arise from a simple cable failure or a malfunctioning port. If all else fails, it might be time to consider getting new drives.
