My friend's T-Mobile Revvl 6 (running Android) is having a big problem. It's stuck at 1% battery, and whenever we plug it in to charge, it won't actually charge and the phone along with the charger heats up to extreme temperatures almost instantly. I even burned my finger on the metal part of the charger! We've tried two different chargers including a fast charger as well as other outlets, and nothing seems to help. My phone charges just fine with those chargers. Does anyone have an idea of what might be wrong and how we can fix it? He's really in need of a working phone!

If it's that dangerous, maybe it's best to just get rid of it after saving the SIM card and important data. You could grab a cheap replacement phone from Walmart as a temporary solution. Better safe than sorry!
Is it capable of Qi charging? Sometimes that can be another option if you're in a pinch.
It sounds like a serious issue; there's likely a short circuit somewhere. I recommend backing up any data you can and considering a replacement. Keeping it around could be a fire hazard.
It sounds like there might be a short in the charging port or some debris causing a problem. That could lead to overheating. I'd suggest checking the port for any signs of damage or blockage first. If you're not comfortable doing it yourself, taking it to a repair shop might be your best bet.
Honestly, it could be a faulty battery or charging port. I wouldn't keep trying to charge it, as that could make things worse. Head to a shop as soon as you can to get it looked at before it causes more damage.
