My HP laptop won’t turn on—am I doomed?

I have an HP laptop (model might be c-17250 from some old Spanish instructions) that suddenly turned off while I was trying to join a server. The screen went black, the sound cut out instantly, and now it won't turn on at all. It's quite humid where I am, so I'm worried that might have affected it. The charging light is still on, which means it's getting power, but when I hold down the power button, the indicator turns off until I release it. I've tried leaving it alone overnight with no success. Is my laptop completely dead, or is there hope?

Try removing the battery and power it on using just the charger. If that doesn't work, see if you can get another charger to test it. Let us know what happens!

I have no idea how to pull the battery out.
