My iPad Pro Stopped Working After a Year – What Can I Do?

I bought an iPad Pro 13-inch in May 2024, and to my surprise, it completely stopped working in May 2025 after being charged for hours. I've taken excellent care of it—no drops, no water exposure, and I always keep it in a protective case. I didn't think about checking it right away, and by the time I did visit the Apple Store on June 1, it was two weeks past the warranty. The quote for a replacement was a shocking $999 since they said the motherboard failed. I tried getting help from Apple Support, even a Senior Advisor, but they couldn't do anything because it was outside the warranty period. Now I'm back in school and without a device. I can't afford a new iPad after spending $1400 on this one! Has anyone faced something similar? Any tips on how to get Apple to reconsider since the issue arose just after the warranty expired?

Honestly, it sounds like you're in a tough spot. If Apple doesn’t budge, you might need to consider getting a more affordable device on an installment plan since it’s been a while since it first failed.

I recommend contacting Apple Support again but this time insist on speaking to a supervisor. Clearly explain your situation and see if they can make an exception. Sometimes they do grant concessions, especially if it’s a close call on the warranty.

That's a good idea! I've heard some people have had luck with supervisors when they explain their situations clearly.

It seems like a tricky situation since you waited a while to reach out. Just remember, you’re not the only one who’s faced this kind of issue with Apple products. Good luck!

In my experience with Apple, they sometimes offer a one-time exception for cases just outside the warranty. You might want to bring it up during your conversation with customer service.

Yes, they referred to it as a 'one-time exception' when I had a similar issue. It’s worth a shot!
