Hey everyone, I woke up this morning after updating my iPhone 14 to iOS 18.6.1 and it's completely dead. The phone was burning hot near the volume buttons where the logic board is located. I had plugged it in to charge while I slept, but now it won't power on at all – just a black screen and no response to anything I try. I took it to an official service center and they quoted me around ₹40,000 for a replacement, but a local repair guy said it has level 2 damage and might cost around ₹10,000 to check, with no guarantee it'll work again. I'm really connected to Apple's ecosystem with my MacBook Air and AirPods, and I can't afford to lose all my data and services tied to my phone. Has anyone dealt with something like this after an update? Any advice would be really appreciated regarding repairs or support options from Apple, especially in India!

Yeah, Apple’s reliability has taken a hit lately. I’ve heard of some phones bricking after OTA updates. You might be risking it with repairs, but if you can, try to stick with official service for serious issues. Just be prepared for the costs involved!
It sounds like you’re dealing with a logic board failure, possibly due to overheating and the battery being low during the update. I recommend going directly to Apple for repairs; it's the safest route even if it seems pricey. Good luck!
I already went to them, but they told me I need a whole new motherboard for ₹40,000. It's a tough pill to swallow.

If I get it fixed, I'm definitely thinking about selling it off. Just too much hassle at this point.
