I've got a bit of a crisis here! My laptop is stuck at 7% on an update for hours, and I really need it to work for a project due tomorrow. I've already tried all the troubleshooting tips I found online, including turning it on and off a few times. Unfortunately, I can't even access the settings or safe mode; it just doesn't respond. I also let it sit for two hours with no change. I'm really hoping someone has a solution for this!

Have you tried booting into safe mode with networking? That could help. If you manage to get there, you might be able to restore your system to a point before the update began.
Try holding down the power button for about 30 seconds for a full shutdown, then power it back on after waiting 30 seconds. Sometimes that can reset whatever’s holding it up!
I already did that—no luck unfortunately.
This might be a bit extreme, but if you're really in a pinch, you could consider reinstalling Windows. Just be careful not to wipe your data! Your files should still be on the C: drive in a folder called 'Windows.old'. You might need to set up some basic programs again afterward, but for that, I recommend Ninite.com—it's super helpful for reinstalling multiple programs at once without extra junk.
The issue is, I still can’t get into the laptop at all; it’s stuck on the update page!

I tried that, but it won't even let me in! Just says something's wrong and hangs there for 30 minutes.
