I have a 2012 MacBook Air that I'm having trouble with. It wouldn't install macOS through Internet Recovery, so I decided to try installing Ubuntu instead. In the process, I reformatted the drive to a different file format. However, now the drive has disappeared completely. It doesn't show up in Ubuntu, Windows, or even in Internet Recovery. Can anyone help me out? Just to clarify, this isn't my main laptop, so I'm not in a rush.

It sounds like the formatting process might have caused some issues, especially since it's an older SSD. Have you tried checking Disk Utility after rebooting? If the drive isn't showing up there, it's likely a hardware problem. You might need to look into getting the SSD checked or replaced.
I totally get where you're coming from! It's pretty common for drives to behave weirdly with formatting changes, especially on older machines. If you've already checked Disk Utility and the drive isn't listed, you could also try using the terminal to see if it recognizes any partitions. Sometimes there are hidden mini-partitions that might not show up in the usual places.
