My Motherboard Keeps Failing – Is It the Power Supply?

Hey everyone! I'm having a major issue with my motherboard, which seems to be fried—this is actually my second one! Today, I accidentally bumped into my PC lightly, and it shut off completely. I checked my ROG Strix motherboard, but the RGB light isn't on at all. I've tried the 24-pin connector, and I can see my power supply unit (PSU) fan spinning and voltage from the PSU, but the motherboard just doesn't seem to be working. This isn't the first time; similar issues happened about 1-2 years ago. Could it be my power supply causing these problems?

It sounds like a light bump shouldn't have caused such a big issue unless there's something like a loose connection, a short, or a failing PSU that can't maintain power. The fact that the RGB lights on your motherboard are off suggests it's not receiving standby power, which comes directly from the PSU, not through the main 24-pin connector. So even if your PSU fan spins, 5VSB could still be dead. A lot of cheap or old PSUs can mess up motherboards over time, too. Have you checked for standby power by just plugging the PSU into the motherboard and wall without pressing the power button? You should see some RGB or standby lights. If nothing, that PSU is likely the culprit. Try testing another PSU if you can!

I've already tried the 24-pin connector, but it seems there's no power there.

Have you tried using a different wall outlet? It’s unlikely that would be the issue, but it’s worth a shot to eliminate all possibilities.

Yes, still nothing. It's really frustrating.
