I've got an MSI X370 Gaming Pro Carbon motherboard that isn't showing any signs of life. I'm using a Ryzen 2600X processor (which worked before), along with 4 or 8 gigs of old RAM, an RX 6600 graphics card, and a 512GB SATA SSD. All these components functioned properly before, and I've tried two different 450W power supplies that supported them without issues. I've already removed the battery for five minutes, reseated the RAM in various configurations, and even tried a little good luck charm. Is there anything else I can do to troubleshoot this before considering sending it back? Got it at a good price, so I want to explore all options!

If all your other parts are functional and there's absolutely no response from the motherboard, it might be a dead board. Compatibility issues would typically still show some power activity when you turn it on.
Check the basics first! Make sure that the front panel connectors are plugged in properly. Look for anything that might be causing a short, like loose screws or bad thermal paste. Also, when you remove the battery, it's possible it might not reset the CMOS, so try using the jumper instead. Is there any LED or RGB lighting that should be on when the board gets power, even if in standby? If things still aren't working, consider disconnecting anything non-essential like the GPU and other connectors to see if that helps.

I checked, and there’s no front panel or screws involved—it's just on some bubble wrap for now. I've only got the essentials connected, and there aren't any LEDs lighting up.
