My New PC Keeps Crashing – What’s Going On?

Hey everyone! I recently bought a new PC with the following specs: a Gigabyte Z790 AORUS Elite Ax motherboard, Intel Core i7 14700KF CPU, 32GB Fury DDR5 RAM at 6000MHz, a 1TB Samsung 990 PRO SSD, a Gigabyte AORUS 750W PSU, and a Gigabyte 5060 TI GPU. Just 12 days after getting it, I experienced a sudden crash while playing ARC Raiders. After turning off the game, my PC shut down for no reason. Now it displays a message saying, 'Your device ran into a problem and needs to restart' with the stop code 'whea uncorrectable error 0x124.' The event logger indicated a CPU issue, and now it turns off just seconds after starting up. Yesterday, we had two power outages, and I'm worried that something might be broken. Is there a way to fix this, or is a component damaged?

Have you tried turning off any overclocking settings? If you’re not using XMP and have already loaded default settings, that’s a good step. Also, running HWMonitor can give you insights into your CPU temperatures. They seem fine at 33°C, but if anything looks off, that could indicate more problems.

I’ll check the temps again during games!

Definitely keep an eye on them, especially under load. That can tell you a lot!

It sounds like your power supply might not be handling everything properly. But before you jump to conclusions, power outages can sometimes damage components. If the crashes started after those outages, it's possible that the CPU or even the motherboard could have been affected. Try doing a BIOS CMOS reset or updating the BIOS, as that might help. If things don't improve, consider checking warranty options for repairs, if you haven't already. Just a heads up, damage from power issues might not be covered, so make sure to disclose what happened during service.

What if I reset the BIOS and still have issues?

You might need to check the hardware connections or consider other components too. It's good to troubleshoot step by step!
