I recently built my first PC (super excited about it!), but I've been having this annoying issue where the screen goes black and then the PC restarts. Before it crashes, my mouse stutters, which makes me think it's related to the GPU. This issue doesn't happen every day; it seems pretty random. Here are my specs:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9900X
- GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti VENTUS 3X OC
- Motherboard: ASUS X870 Max Gaming WIFI7
- PSU: Seasonic Focus GX-1000 V4 1000W ATX3.0
- OS: Windows 11
I've checked the control panel and got errors including "BlueScreen 116", "BlueScreen 119", "LiveKernelEvent 141", and "LiveKernelEvent 117". The most recent ones were 116 and 141 today. Any ideas on what might be causing this?

It sounds like you might need to get some dump files for better analysis of those blue screen errors. If you can access Windows, check the C:WindowsMinidump directory for any files there. Zip them up and upload them to a file sharing site. It’ll help in diagnosing the issue more accurately. Also, you might want to check how to set up small memory dumps if you don't have many files; this can provide better insights.
Just a heads up, there's a known problem with Windows 11 (especially the 24H2 update) that causes random crashes, often linked to graphics cards. Microsoft is rolling out a fix soon, so keep an eye out for that update! Installing it might just resolve the stuttering and crashing issues you're having. In the meantime, check for any optional updates they’ve released as well.
Yoo thanks! I’m glad to hear it could be a software issue and not a faulty GPU!
