My PC Has a Pop Before Powering On—Is My PSU Dying?

Hey everyone, I could really use some help! I've got a PC that's about three years old and has been running smoothly until recently. Now, whenever I try to power it on, the process takes forever. It starts with no power for a little while, then the motherboard light flashes a few times, accompanied by some popping sounds from the speakers. Finally, after a loud pop from the power supply unit (PSU), the light remains solid, and I can actually turn on the PC, which then runs perfectly fine.

I've noticed this weird cycle: if I try to power it on without the motherboard light staying solid, it just goes back to flashing and eventually pops again. Also, if I let the PC go to sleep, the power cuts off after a while.

I've attached a video showing the issue here: [watch the video](https://imgur.com/a/sf1GrTF).

Before this, powering up was almost instantaneous, with no pops and a steady solid light. My PSU is a Corsair HX1000 80 PLUS Platinum, and I'm starting to think it might be failing. Any thoughts on what I should do?

Dude… if your PSU is popping, you should definitely unplug it right away. That's not normal at all!

I can't tell you exactly what's wrong, but I really recommend replacing that PSU before it does any more damage. The noise from your speakers is likely caused by the feedback from the PSU's bad power. Just to clarify, what are the specs of your PSU? You mentioned it's a Corsair HX1000, right? I had a power outage recently, and it could be the reason for the issue you're facing. Better safe than sorry!

Yeah, it is the Corsair HX1000. I originally got it new when I built the PC. I'm worried that the outage might have affected it!
