My PC Won’t Boot After Accidentally Unplugging It – What Should I Do?

I was in the process of restoring my PC when I accidentally unplugged the wrong cable. Now, every time I log in, I'm stuck on a black screen with just my cursor showing. I've tried accessing the advanced startup settings to either reinstall or uninstall something, but when I get there, my mouse isn't working – I've tested both wireless and wired mice in every USB port. I'm really stuck and need some guidance on what to do next!

It sounds like your best bet might be to wipe your system and do a clean reinstall of Windows. Restoring or resetting generally doesn't work well in these situations, so a fresh install is often the way to go.

Before you dive into a clean install, try creating a Linux USB stick. Boot from that to see if everything works fine. If it does, you can at least back up your important files before you proceed with reinstalling Windows, which can be a hassle without a backup.
