My PC’s Performance Dropped After Storage—What Can I Do?

I've got a three-year-old PC that I just cleaned up really well. It used to run Valorant at around 240 FPS, peaking at about 350 FPS without any issues. However, after storing it for four months, I noticed a significant drop in performance. I have an Intel i7-13700K and an NVIDIA RTX 4060 Ti, and I feel like I should still be able to run Valorant at 280 FPS at 1440p, especially since I can turn one monitor off. I shut the other monitor off, but didn't notice any performance difference. The second monitor is only a 1080p 240Hz, so I doubt it's drawing too much power. What can I do to get my frame rates back to normal without upgrading my GPU? If I do need to upgrade, would something like a 5070 be worth it? I think my current graphics card is the 8GB version, which might be a limitation for running two monitors.

First thing to check is your drivers. Make sure they’re updated. Also, the game might have received updates that affect performance. If you haven't done so already, run through NVIDIA's update process and see if there are any driver updates available.

I usually stick to NVIDIA for drivers too. Have you tried checking for Windows updates as well? Sometimes patches can get stuck, and they're important for performance. I ran into issues because my Windows wasn't updating properly. After fixing that, my performance improved.

That’s a good point about drivers. However, I haven’t noticed major drops after updates before. Just an FYI, ensure your Windows is fully synced up; sometimes it can lag.
