My PSU Might Be Dead – What Should I Do Next?

I built my new PC last March, and it's been running smoothly until last week when it suddenly wouldn't start. I did some research and learned about the paperclip test to check my Seasonic FOCUS V3 GX-1000 PSU. I followed Seasonic's video but the fan didn't turn on; I just heard a click. Does this mean my PSU has failed? What steps should I take now? Should I reach out to Newegg where I purchased it, or contact Seasonic for warranty support? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I’d recommend contacting Seasonic directly. Since the PSU is still under warranty, they can guide you through the process. It’s always good to start with the manufacturer before going through the retailer.

Don't jump to conclusions just yet; it might not be a dead PSU. Check your cables and other hardware—could be something as simple as a loose connection. When I faced a similar issue, it turned out my motherboard had a broken pin, not the PSU. Just something to consider!

Keep in mind that on modern PSUs, the fan doesn't always start up during a paperclip test unless it’s under load. If you can, try swapping it out with a new PSU. If the problem persists, it might indicate a failed motherboard instead!
