I've got a Dell Precision 7730 laptop, and after a Windows update, my touchpad and keyboard mouse just disappeared. According to Device Manager, it says 'hardware not connected - code 45' for both the touchpad and the little nub mouse. I've tried everything: uninstalling the touchpad, deleting hidden devices, reinstalling drivers from Dell's site, and even replacing the entire palmrest assembly with a new touchpad. USB mice are working fine, but Windows just won't recognize the touchpad at all. Strangely, it works perfectly when I boot into Linux or access the UEFI firmware settings. This issue has been a real pain for months now, and I need to find a solution.

Have you considered doing a clean Windows install? It's a drastic step, but it might solve the problem once and for all.
I get that a clean install is a hassle, especially with all your industrial software. It could take a couple of days to set everything back up. Keep in mind that this might also mess up your Linux dual boot, so it would mean a reinstall of that too.
