My Windows 11 PC Won’t Sleep or Turn Off the Display

I'm having a really frustrating issue with my new Alienware Aurora Desktop running Windows 11. No matter what I do, my display won't turn off or the PC won't go to sleep, even though I've set it to turn off after 1 minute and sleep after 15 minutes. I've updated everything - BIOS, GPU drivers - but the problem started before those updates. I've checked powercfg commands like /lastwake and /requests without any luck, and I've even disabled some startup apps that I used on my previous computer without issues. When I manually try to put the PC to sleep, it just brings me back to the lock screen instead of actually going to sleep. I'm at my wits' end here. Any ideas on what might be causing this?

Have you tried disabling Fast Boot? It can interfere with sleep mode. Just go to Control Panel -> Power Options -> Choose what the power buttons do, click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable," and uncheck "Turn on fast startup." Then reboot to see if that helps!

Sadly, did not work 🙁

Maybe switch your power options to 'Balanced' if they're not set that way already? Sometimes that can help resolve sleep issues. A quick restart after switching can also make a difference.

It was on balanced by default. I changed to high performance, rebooted, then back to balanced and I'm still having the same issue.

You could try running the commands powercfg /sleepstudy or powercfg /systempowerreport. They can give insights into what's going on with your sleep settings. I remember having a similar problem where my PC ignored sleep options entirely when on the lock screen!

Thanks! I checked the report. There's a lot of info, but honestly, it’s overwhelming right now.
