My Windows PC Keeps Shutting Down with Error Codes, What Should I Do?

I'm having a serious issue with my computer. It started shutting down unexpectedly when I turned it on today, showing stop codes like 'system_service_exception' and 'memory management'. I've run a system scan, but it said 'Windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation'. I really need to avoid doing a factory reset since I have most of my schoolwork on this PC. I did manage to run DISM and SFC afterwards, which found and fixed some corrupted files, but I'm still worried. Any advice?

Have you managed to get past the pre-installation screen? If you're looking at a factory reset, you might mean a re-installation instead. Here’s what you could try: reboot your computer normally, then open an elevated Command Prompt by searching for 'cmd', right-clicking it, and selecting 'Run as administrator'. Start with the System File Checker by running 'sfc /scannow'. If issues continue, try using the DISM command to restore the image with 'Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth'. If you're not comfortable with these steps, it might be worth taking your PC to a repair shop for professional help.

I had to exit the pre-installation mode already. When I reset, it just told me something was wrong with the shutdown, and there was a Command Prompt option, but it’s running now and hasn’t shut down yet. Still, DISM froze at 20.7%. My whole PC just froze, not just the command window.
