I'm facing a frustrating situation with my work laptop. It worked perfectly fine at the office today—I even gave a presentation without any issues. After I got home and had dinner, I tried to turn it on, but it wouldn't start. I pressed the power button for around 15–20 seconds, and there was no display at all. I thought maybe the battery was dead, so I plugged it in, but the charging light didn't come on. I swapped out the plug and tried a different outlet and Type-C charger, but nothing worked.
About three months ago, I dropped my laptop, and the IT team checked it at that time, saying everything was fine. It has worked well since then, but now I'm at a loss. I made sure it was secured in my bag without any water exposure and traveled by car, so I'm puzzled about what went wrong. I have a day off tomorrow, and the office will be open with IT available. Should I take it in to get checked? Is there anything else I can try at home first? I'm new to handling these tech issues, so any advice would be really appreciated!

If you’re not getting any lights when you plug it in, that might indicate a problem with the embedded controller on the motherboard. Have you tried holding down the power button for an extended time? Some models require a full minute or longer for a proper reset. If nothing works, it might be time for a replacement.
We’ve seen this happen before! They’re usually aware of previous incidents like yours, and this could just be a sign that it's finally given out. Good luck, and I hope it gets resolved quickly!
I had a similar issue once after a rough car ride. What helped me was reseating the RAM and CMOS battery, but if you’re not comfortable doing that, it’s probably best to let the IT team handle it. They’ll be able to get it sorted out without risking any damage.
Just bring it in for them to check; they can handle it. Did you happen to leave it on while it was in your bag? That can sometimes cause overheating. But in any case, your IT team should be well-equipped to deal with this.
Yeah, definitely take it to the IT department. Just make sure you really held the power button for at least 20 seconds; sometimes people underestimate how long that needs to be. It’s not uncommon for laptops to just quit like this, and they’ll know what to do.

Okay, I’ll make sure to do that!
