Need Advice on CPU Temperatures and Cooler Recommendations

Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my CPU temperatures. I have an Intel i7 14700K paired with an Arctic Freezer 240mm AIO cooler. My CPU idles at around 40°C, but during gaming, it can spike up to 100°C. I've replaced the thermal paste twice, which helps temporarily, but it always seems to revert back to high temps. Notably, when I've reapplied the paste, there hasn't been much on the CPU compared to what I apply. I'm not sure if the thermal paste (which is about 3 years old) is faulty or if the cooler just isn't sufficient, causing the paste to degrade faster. If it turns out to be the cooler, I'd appreciate any recommendations. My case is a Corsair 5000D mid tower. Thanks!

It sounds like your cooler might not be cutting it for that CPU. You could try limiting the power draw in the BIOS to see if that helps. My i7 runs hotter than that as well, but I only hit around 60-70°C gaming, with occasional spikes into the 80s. If you haven't already, consider switching to a high-quality thermal paste like Kryonaut—it's a solid choice. If that doesn’t do the trick, you might want to look into getting a new cooler. I'd recommend the Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360mm for better cooling if you're ready to invest a little more. Alternatively, the ID-cooling FX360 is a great budget pick too!
