Need Advice on Upgrading My SSD

I've had my PC for a while now, and it's equipped with a Patriot P210 512GB SSD for booting and a 1TB HDD for storage. Recently, the SSD has been acting up, especially when it hits around 50% capacity. My PC freezes often, and the boot time is longer than I'd like. I've tried defragmenting and optimizing with no success, so I'm considering replacing it. I'm not sure what to look for when buying a new SSD and my budget is around $100. Should I just buy a regular Patriot drive, or do you have better recommendations? I'd love to get a decent 1TB SSD.

Just grabbing a random Patriot isn’t going to solve your issues—it might leave you in the same spot later on. First, check if your motherboard supports M.2 NVMe drives or if you’re limited to SATA, which is what you have now. For your B450M DS3H motherboard, you’ve got options for both SATA and M.2 3.0, so keep that in mind while shopping. Prices have risen recently, but look for well-reviewed brands instead of going for something that could cause more headaches down the line.

Totally agree! You really want to check the specs of your motherboard to know what kind of SSD you can install. M.2 NVMe drives typically offer way better performance compared to SATA. Just make sure to check compatibility before you buy!

If you’re still having issues even after trying to optimize your drive, consider formatting it and starting fresh. Also, you can use software like CrystalDisk to monitor the health of your SSD. If your health percentage shows only "good 56%", it might be a sign that it’s on its way out. Plan to invest in a good SSD; it’ll be worth it in the long run!

I ran CrystalDisk and it says my drive health is "good 56%." Is that something I should be worried about? How much life do I have left?
