Need Help Choosing the Right Job Title for My Role

Hey everyone! I started working at my company as an Azure admin over a year ago. Recently, I've taken on a lot of M365 admin tasks as well, but my job title hasn't changed to reflect this expanded role. I handle various responsibilities in Azure, like Entra ID, conditional access, and VM management, along with managing Intune and some cybersecurity controls for M365. We're transitioning to a full Microsoft environment soon, and I expect to be the main technical contact during that process. I'm hoping to discuss my job title with my manager, as I believe it should reflect what I'm actually doing. What titles would fit someone who covers both Azure and M365 administration? Any suggestions?

It all depends on the company size, honestly. In a small company, everyone tends to wear a lot of hats, so a title like Systems Administrator fits well. Larger companies usually have more defined roles, but if you're handling both Azure and M365, something like Cloud Engineer could work too.

You know, job titles can often be pretty irrelevant. I'd say you're functioning as a sysadmin now. What really matters is your responsibilities and skills, so if the pay matches your workload, you’re on the right path!

From what you’ve described, you might be looking at titles like Azure and Identity Administrator or even a Systems Administrator. If you’re involved in infrastructure projects, Platform Engineer might be fitting. Titles can be fluid, so focus on ensuring you're compensated fairly!

I’d suggest talking to your manager about a title that aligns with your expanded duties. Just remember, titles don’t always reflect your worth or pay, so don’t stress too much about it!
