Hey everyone! I recently discovered my dad's old camcorder which has a built-in hard drive. To access the footage, I need to install some ancient software called ImageMixer3 that was discontinued a while back. I managed to find it online but I'm stuck at the serial number entry page in the InstallShield Wizard. Even though I'm sure I'm typing the correct serial number, it keeps giving me an error saying it's incorrect. Is there any way to get around this issue and successfully install the software? Thanks a ton!

Have you considered setting up a Virtual Machine with an older version of Windows that would have been standard back in 2008? It often helps with legacy software. You’d just connect the camcorder through to that VM. What version of ImageMixer3 do you have? Knowing that might help determine which Windows version would be best for you. Typically, the later versions like V6 can work on Windows 7 if you set the compatibility correctly.
Could you share the model of your camcorder? Sometimes details matter. Also, make sure you're double-checking the serial number—it's often found in the battery compartment. You might need to run the installer in compatibility mode for Windows 7 and also make sure to run it as an administrator. That could do the trick!
What’s the make and model of your camcorder? Back in the day, my experience was that many just required connecting via USB, and the camcorder would ask to allow access without needing additional software. But it might differ by brand or model. Some companies had their specific programs.
