Need Help Installing Ubuntu from USB – Getting Grub Menu Instead

I'm trying to switch to Ubuntu as my main operating system and I'm attempting to install it from a USB drive. I followed the installation instructions from the Ubuntu website, but when I boot from the USB, I only see the GRUB menu instead of the Ubuntu installation GUI. After some searching, it seems like the issue might be related to the root directory or leftover configurations from a previous dual boot setup with Linux and Windows that I had a couple of years ago. When I run the 'ls' command, I see my drives, including what I believe is my C:/ drive with Windows, and another that should be formatted, but it's showing multiple recovery partitions. Can anyone help me troubleshoot this?

A good first step is to remake your USB drive. Make sure to redownload and verify the ISO file, it might be corrupted. Also, if you have another USB drive available, try using that and a different tool to create the bootable USB. Since you mentioned having Linux previously, you might be booting from a leftover GRUB entry, so consider clearing out any old entries from the EFI partition.

If you see a GRUB command line like this, it's a sign to reflash the installer. You might want to try a different flashing tool or verify your ISO file integrity. If it’s showing a GRUB terminal, it usually indicates that the USB might not have been created properly. Sometimes, using a tool like balenaEtcher can help, but make sure to follow the steps exactly.
