Need Help Installing WordPress and Related Software on CachyOS

Hey everyone! I've spent the last three days trying to install WordPress along with MySQL, MariaDB, Apache, XAMPP, and phpMyAdmin on my CachyOS setup, and it's been such a struggle. No matter what I do, something always goes wrong. The guides I've found are outdated. I've tried installations through Octopi and the terminal, but I just keep ending up deleting everything because it doesn't work. I'm not sure if the packages are broken, but I'm quite new to all of this and really could use some help! Thanks in advance, and I appreciate your understanding of my situation.

I’m curious, why do you need both MySQL and MariaDB along with XAMPP? It might be simpler to choose one to avoid the confusion.

Good point! I guess I was just following some guides, but I’m open to just picking one if that makes things easier!

Wow, sounds like you’ve been through it! It's tough to get all those components running manually on CachyOS since it's Arch-based, which can lead to compatibility issues, especially with outdated guides. If you’re just looking to get WordPress up and running quickly, I’d recommend going for a bundled solution like XAMPP or LocalWP—these include everything you need and make things a lot easier. Alternatively, you could consider a hosting provider where everything is pre-installed for you, which would let you focus on building rather than troubleshooting. If you do want to stick with CachyOS, try searching for recent Arch guides for more accurate help!

If you’re really stuck on your current setup, have you thought about using a bootable USB to install a different Linux distribution? That could bypass some of the issues you’re facing with CachyOS. But remember, the choice of distro should fit your needs, so don’t feel pressured to switch unless you want to.

I appreciate the suggestion, but I really want to stick with CachyOS for now and figure this out. I hope you understand!
