Hi everyone! I'm 28 and looking for some guidance on how to land an IT job, especially since I don't have a degree. I hold CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, and AZ-900 certifications, and I've got 5.5 years of experience as a Technical Manager in e-commerce. My background includes collaborating with senior developers, troubleshooting issues, improving systems, and providing technical support. I'm skilled in web development, system integration, and optimizing workflows and I love leveraging cloud technology to bring ideas to life.
I've even built a live portfolio hosted on Vercel and showcase my work on GitHub. Despite all my efforts, I'm finding it tough to get a job in IT. I'm based in South Africa and open to remote or onsite roles, particularly for entry-level positions in SOC Analyst, DevOps, Cloud, or Support. I'd really appreciate any advice, feedback, or referrals to help me get started. Thanks!

Tailoring your resume for the specific roles you’re applying for can make a big difference. For example, if you are applying to a mid-sized company that needs IT support, you might want to downplay your web development skills and focus more on relevant experiences related to the job description. Keeping your resume concise and having different versions for different applications could really help too.
Consider looking for roles in IT support. Many people transition from customer support jobs at companies like Comcast or Verizon into helpdesk positions. It might not be the most exciting work, but it could help you get your foot in the door.
Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely consider this path.
