I'm currently working on some IT remediation at a site I'm unfamiliar with, and I've encountered an old Avaya phone system that needs some reconfiguration. Specifically, they have an IP 500 V2 control unit along with 9600 series phones, all set to static IP addresses. I need to convert these phones to use DHCP instead. While I've been diving into the Avaya documentation, it's been a bit difficult to navigate. Can anyone guide me on how to reconfigure these phones? Additionally, if there are any service providers who can support this outdated system for a day in Newbury, UK, that would also be helpful!

You might want to reach out to IP Integration for assistance. First, check if the 9600 phones are on the same VLAN as your other devices or if they’re on a separate one. Depending on your setup—whether you connect network drops directly to each phone or have distinct drops for phones and endpoints—you’ll need to create a separate VLAN with QoS for the phones. You'll also have to set up DHCP scope option 242, which contains the configuration details for the handsets. If you go with the piggyback method (where the endpoint connects through the phone), ensure the native VLAN has option 242 that points to the Voice VLAN, and another in the Voice VLAN for specific handset settings like the Media Server.
I used to manage those phones. Definitely set up a separate VLAN for them with a dedicated DHCP scope. Check this link for reference: https://support.avaya.com/css/public/documents/101038499. The default settings code for access is "CRAFT" or 27238, which might come in handy.
Have you tried a quick Google search for 'Avaya 9600 phone setup'? You might find some straightforward guides.
