Hey everyone, I'm new here. I'm the VP of a Managed Service Provider and I've recently taken over a client that lost their last service provider due to a legal issue. Because of this, the previous provider can't assist us anymore. The client has the full Sophos suite installed on their systems, but it's password protected and we can't retrieve the password from the old provider. We've managed to manually delete all the registry entries related to Sophos, but with the size of the client, that approach isn't practical. Does anyone have any tips or tools that could help us remove the Sophos software more easily?

There used to be an official Sophos uninstall tool that might help. You basically need to boot the system into Safe Mode, log in, and then run that tool to get rid of Sophos. I’ve been in a similar situation where I had to handle this for a customer before, and it worked for me.
Booting into Safe Mode and removing it is really your best bet unless you can figure out how to disable the tamper protection in Sophos. It's tricky, but it seems like that's the only option left if you can't get the password.
You could create a PowerShell script to automate the registry cleanup you did manually. That could save you some time. But honestly, it might be worth having your lawyer contact their lawyer to see if they can get the password released—it could be a faster route.
