Hey everyone! I just moved into my first apartment, which is 996 sq ft with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. I stumbled upon a deal at Costco for the TP-Link Deco BE11000 Wifi 7 Tri-Band Mesh Home Router (3 Pack) and decided to separate the routers — I kept 2 for the bedrooms and sold the third for what I paid.
Now that I have some decent equipment, I'm really looking for guidance since I've only used WiFi before and never set it up myself. I've got an Xfinity 1gb WiFi 6e modem in my living room and I need to make sure the WiFi reaches both bedrooms.
Here's where I get stuck: I just found out I need to connect the routers to my modem using Ethernet, so I need advice on the right cables to buy. I want to plan for the future since I'll likely have these devices for at least 5 years thanks to Xfinity's price guarantee.
So my questions are:
- What type of Ethernet cables should I get?
- Are these routers any good?
- How can I neatly route the Ethernet cables along the walls and doorframes for a clean look?
- Any other tips or suggestions I might be missing?

You should look for Cat6e slim cables; they'll be easy to run along your baseboards or walls. You'll find them at places like monoprice.com for a good price. Also, for an apartment of your size, one of those routers positioned in the middle should be plenty. Having both routers can lead to interference if they’re not set up to work together.
Congrats on the new place!
I kept both routers too for future use when I move to a house! For now, having them along with your Xfinity modem isn’t a bad idea. Just make sure they’re set correctly to avoid competing networks. If not, they can sit in the closet until you're ready to use them.
