I've been trying to install Linux based on advice from a previous post. A user suggested that I reduce my main partition size by about 10GB and create a new partition with the unused space, which I did. I also had to use a tool to delete a file and recreate it, and that worked! Now, I'm at a point where I'm not sure how to switch to the new operating system (I think it's Fedora KDE). I just copied the operating system files directly into the new volume D: without extracting them or anything. What are the next steps I need to take to successfully boot into Linux?

YouTube can be a great resource for this! Just search for videos on how to dual boot Linux. Even if you can't use USBs, there are plenty of tutorials that cover installing Linux from existing partitions. Just find one that matches your setup and follow along!
Have you tried using a boot manager? Once you've set up everything, you usually need to configure your bootloader to recognize the new OS. You can use something like GRUB or even the built-in boot manager in your BIOS. Just make sure Linux is set as a boot option and it should show up when you restart your computer!
