Need Help Upgrading My 6-Year-Old Gaming PC

Hey everyone! I built my gaming PC about six years ago with a little help from my dad since I was pretty young at the time. Lately, it's been struggling to keep up with new games, and I'm looking to upgrade, but I could use some guidance on where to start. Here are my current specs: CPU is an AMD Ryzen 5 2600, GPU is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660, I have 16 GB of RAM, a Corsair CX550M (550W) PSU, and a Crucial P1 1TB NVMe SSD. I enjoy playing heavy single-player games like Elden Ring and modded titles like Skyrim and Minecraft, along with some multiplayer games with friends. I want to run newer AAA games more smoothly at decent settings. I have a PCPartPicker link to my build if anyone wants to check it out. So, what do you all think I should focus on upgrading first? Should I go for a new GPU, or maybe a combo of CPU, motherboard, and RAM? I'm trying to find the right balance between improving performance now without spending too much since I might need to swap platforms in the future. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

You’re in a great position to upgrade without breaking the bank. Adding the Ryzen 7 5700X and RX 9060 XT with 32GB of RAM will set you up nicely for the next few years. After college, you can consider a full rebuild if needed!

If you’ve got a 4K TV, consider getting the Ryzen 5 5600 along with an RTX 5060 for smooth performance, even at ultra settings. Don’t forget to keep an eye on temperatures and maybe upgrade your PSU to 850W or even 1000W if you have the budget. Happy gaming!
