Need Help Upgrading My PC – Conflicting Advice!

Hey all, I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed with upgrading my PC, especially since Windows 10 is losing support. My current setup is slow as molasses, and I've been thinking about an upgrade. Here's what I have:

- **Motherboard:** AsusteK PRIME H310M-E R2.0
- **CPU:** Intel i5-9400F @ 2.90GHz
- **RAM:** 8GB
- **GPU:** Nvidia Geforce 9400 GT (which is seriously outdated)

I do some video editing and play lighter games like League and TFT, but this GPU could crash if I pushed it further. Initially, I wanted to go for a Ryzen 7 with integrated graphics, 16GB RAM, and a SSD since my boot time is painfully long (7-10 minutes!).

However, a technician suggested sticking with my i5 and motherboard but just upgrading RAM and getting an Nvidia GTX 1650. When I asked about better options like the GTX 1660, he claimed my setup couldn't handle it without major performance drops. I'm just trying to figure out what the best path is for upgrading without over-spending while still getting good performance for editing and casual gaming. I've got around $500 to $700 budget.

**TL;DR:** Looking to upgrade my old PC for better performance in video editing and gaming. Should I keep my current setup and just upgrade the GPU and RAM, or should I push for a whole new build?

I’d suggest keeping your current CPU and just upgrading the RAM to DDR4 - it should work with your motherboard. SSDs are super affordable now, and getting one for your OS will make a huge difference in load times. Just get something like a 250-512 GB SSD. After that, you can decide on a video card based on your remaining budget. Just double-check that your power supply can handle the new GPU; you might need to upgrade it too! Also, consider an AMD card if you’re open to it; they often provide great value for money and solid performance.

Awesome advice! I’ll definitely look into that! Just curious, any specific AMD card you'd recommend?
