I'm looking for advice on building a budget PC primarily for office use and some light CAD work. My partner needs it, and I've got a couple of older components to reuse along with some parts I picked up from Facebook Marketplace:
- 2x 8GB DDR4 HyperX Savage RAM
- 450w Litepower PSU
- NZXT Kraken Z73 360mm AIO cooler
- Lian V100 ATX case in black
I'm leaning towards an AM4 setup and considering either an ATX x470 or B450 motherboard paired with a used Ryzen 5500 or 5600. I also need suggestions for a budget-friendly GPU that can handle running three 1080p monitors at 144Hz, since we've already got the 144Hz monitors. Any thoughts or recommendations?

Any modern GPU should support triple monitor setups, even low-power options. Just check the specs to ensure it has enough outputs for three 1080p displays. Most should handle it without issue!
For a basic build, a Ryzen 5500 or 5600 with a B450 or B550 board sounds solid. If you're looking for a GPU, a 3050 should work fine with your PSU and support triple 1080p at 144Hz without any issues!
Thanks! Just to clarify, that 3050 would definitely manage the display bandwidth for 3x 1080p @ 144Hz?
Honestly, I'm curious why you need 144Hz for basic office work. It might drive up the price of your setup. But if you've already got the monitors, I get it—makes sense to utilize them!
We don’t strictly need it, but since we have them already, I want to ensure the PC can support that refresh rate if she ever games in the future.
If you're considering an AM4 setup, just remember that the x470 and B450 motherboards were made before the Ryzen 5000 series. You might need to check if the seller has updated the BIOS, so it supports those CPUs.
Great advice! I'll be sure to ask about that before buying.

Thanks for the tip! Is there a specific spec I should look for in GPUs to ensure they can do 3x 1080p at 144Hz?
