Need Help with Ethernet Issues on ASUS ROG STRIX B550-A Motherboard

Hey everyone, I'm really stuck here! I've spent the last two hours trying to troubleshoot my new ASUS ROG STRIX B550-A motherboard. Previously, I had an ASRock B450M Pro4-F, and the Ethernet worked perfectly. Since upgrading, I'm not getting any Ethernet connection at all. I've tried a few different things:

1. Installed drivers directly from Intel for the Intel(R) Ethernet Controller (3) I225-V (Version: 2.1.4.3) but still no luck.
2. I installed both Armoury Crate and DriverHub from ASUS, which claimed to be updated, but all it did was try to load extra software I didn't ask for.
3. I downloaded drivers straight from ASUS using their guide, but it didn't solve the problem.
4. I attempted a Windows repair, but that failed.
5. I did a network repair through Windows 11, and while the Activity Link LED was flashing green during that, it doesn't connect after restarting.

Currently, I'm relying on a USB-C hub with an Ethernet port, but it's just 1Gb. Any ideas or solutions would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like you've put in a lot of work already! One thing to check is your BIOS settings. Go into Advanced > Intel(R) Ethernet Controller and see if there’s anything that looks off. It might give you more insights into the link status or device name. Also, make sure the Ethernet cable is firmly connected. Sometimes a loose connection can cause these headaches!

Honestly, if you have the Intel i225 chip, you might be out of luck. A lot of users have had issues with this model. You could consider returning the board and getting one that doesn't use this chipset. Sounds like a hassle, but it's better than dealing with constant connection issues!

Oh wow, I had no idea it had a reputation for being problematic. The reviews I read were glowing! Maybe I just got lucky with my old board, huh?

Actually, I found that by lowering the Speed & Duplex settings in the network adapter to 100 Mbps Half Duplex helped me connect just fine. Could it be a problem with the Ethernet cable or the distance it runs?
