I'm running Linux Mint 22.1 with Cinnamon 6.4.8 and I'm having a tough time with port forwarding for my Minecraft server. I've opened up ports 25565 and 24454 on both my router and firewall, but a port checker still says they're closed. When I'm on the same Wi-Fi network, I can connect just fine, but my friends outside my network can't access the server. I've set the firewall rules to allow connections for both ports and confirmed with my ISP that they're not blocking anything. I'm really at a loss and would appreciate any advice or suggestions!

Have you checked the firewall settings on your Linux Mint? Sometimes there are additional settings or policies that might be affecting the port access, so it’s worth investigating that.
Make sure the ports you've opened on your router are actually forwarded to your local computer's internal IP address. Just opening them might not be enough—your router needs to know where to send the traffic.
I believe I did that! When I opened the ports, the router prompted me to select a device, so I assume it's forwarding traffic correctly.
I've checked, and I've set rules for those ports to allow both incoming and outgoing connections, but it’s still not working.
