Hey folks! I'm gearing up for a second-round interview for a System Administrator position with a well-known NHL team. I had my first interview last week, and to my surprise, they were impressed with my background in identity management, even though I don't know much about hockey. The first interview went well, even though I was honest about my weaker spots in networking. Now I'm curious about what I should expect for my upcoming interview with the IT Director. How can I best present my skills and address any gaps? Any particular topics I should review before Wednesday? I'd really appreciate advice, especially from those who've made the transition from identity management to SysAdmin or infrastructure roles. Thanks!

Don't stress about not knowing everything. It's totally okay to say you don't have the answer but explain how you'd find it. Highlight your problem-solving abilities; that’s what directors are looking for.
Having worked in IT for the NHL, let me reassure you that the team’s IT isn’t as complex as you might think. Just approach it like any other role—stay calm and be yourself. They’re more interested in your skills than your hockey knowledge!

Wow, that sounds amazing! I’d love to work for my favorite sports team too!
